Officially a UKM student! ;) Orientation-PPA camp
Flashing back to the moment I logged in UPU website to check my application result...it was truly adrenaline surging. Really thankful to the Buddha, I got chosen to pursue UKM medicine!π
Several weeks after that, I was busy getting ready for my uni life...documents, proper equipment, air tickets and so on (since it is far from home Sarawak </3) I gotta admit that, I got excited and happy in the first place. However, as days passed, the feeling of homesick (although I was still at home that time) started to pour over me. The thought of being in a totally different environment...how will it be...I couldn't bear to imagine it. The fear of not being able to adapt well, it just grew bigger and bigger each day I got closer to the registration date.
Well, things went pretty smooth after all. Those fears prove themselves unnecessary. I was welcomed to UKM Cheras with open arms. Seniors, lecturers were really considerate and understood that we freshies were desperate for help and guidance. A big thank you to all of them! Without them, we juniors certainly couldn't keep up to track in a short time. :)
ORIENTATION--fate of every newbies--we can't run away from it.
In UKM this year, we were required to wear baju kurung MERAH as a resemblance of Payung Merah (Well-rounded scholars). But believe me, for year 2017 the orientation was not as tiring as those in previous years (considered myself luckyππ) We got to sleep around 1 or 2am the latest..and woke up around 5 or 5.30 am (don't be shocked, it is considered luxurious when compared to others!)
We had our orientation first day in our Cheras campus (medical faculty), next 3 days in Bangi main campus. This was when all UKM freshies carried out all sorts of activities together (sports, traditional dance, traditional music, business talk, gotong-royong, zumba etc) And not to forget, we had the privilege to actually meet Dato Seri Hishamuddin during our orientation as he showed up for a program under his NGO named IOJ.
The most "unforgettable memory" during orientation is seeing ππ everywhere in Bangi Campus! They are cute (only if they do not come near to you lolπ). When we were back to our own campus, the very first thought was: Home sweet home! What a comfortable bed we had! xD
(no offence, just a joke hahaπ)
Personal and Professional Advancement (PPA) camp--Batch 1718 group photo. Previously it was known as PPD (development). |
Before lectures/ syllabus started, we participated in a camp organized by Medical Faculty --PPA camp. PPA--Personal and Professional Advancement, is one of the unique course for MD UKM. It serves to train the soft skills of the students and also as a platform for the doctors to guide the students closely in small groups.π
During the camp, all of us were assigned a group, which turned out to be our PBL group for our first pre-clinical year. Throughout the camp, we got to know each other and build our teamwork through fun game sessions. π¬ππ¬π
PBL 12 with our PPA mentor!✌ |
I want to take this opportunity to thank my PBL-mates for caring and tolerating each other throughout our 1st semester of studies! Ya'all rock! ;)
Guess I will just stop here. More to go in next few posts!π
